On aurait pas du autant abuser. Ou en tout cas, JE n'aurais pas du autant abusé des mojitos. Ils étaient si...délicieux. J'avais été complètement incapable d'y résister. Pour David, et bien, je ne suis pas dans sa tête, mais j'imagine qu'il a mieux gérer que moi...ou en tout cas il fera tout comme parce que vous imaginez bien que les grands frères ont toujours raison. Vous pouvez très bien lui dire que le ciel est bleu, s'il a décidé qu'aujourd'hui il serait violet, le ciel sera violet. J'vous jure les grands frères c'est pas souvent évident !
Anyway. Hier, j'avais passé dix heures dans un amphithéâtre où des professeurs assez lourds, vieux, chiants avaient tenté de nous apprendre quelque chose. Les premières heures ça va, mais petit à petit, ma conscience de bonne élève se barre en courant et me supplie de faire la même chose...surtout qu'ils n'étaient pas non plus beaux à regarder. (le plus grand regret de ma vie ! J'aurais du choisir l'art, il parait qu'ils sont plus jeunes avec des fesses rebondies !) Bref, j'avais vraiment besoin de me détendre en rentrant des cours, alors on est sortis dans un bar de la ville, et je me suis retrouvée...complètement saoul. Heureusement Layla était dans le coin et m'avait ramené jusqu'à mon appartement. Bizarrement, j'avais perdu mon frère dans la soirée...mais vous savez, David, dès qu'il rencontre une jolie fille en soirée, il devient vite invisible. J'avais l'impression d'avoir eu une mauvaise influence sur lui. Vous savez après qu'il ait rompu...c'était vraiment une larve. Peut être que si...si mon train de vie n'avait pas été si déjantée, peut être que si je ne changeais pas de copains comme de chemise, peut être que David n'aurait pas bu lors de cette fameuse soirée où il a trompé sa merveilleuse petite amie. Je m'en suis toujours voulu. Je sais, je ne devrais pas. Je n'ai pas mis un flingue sur la tempe de mon frère pour qu'il trompe sa copine. Mais...maintenant il est dans un tel cercle vicieux qu'il ne fait bientôt plus attention à comment s'appelle la fille avec qui il passe la nuit. Et puis merde ! Je suis sensée être l'enfant instable de la famille, pas lui.
Il était onze heures, lorsqu'à moitié dans le coma, je me réveillais trainant des pieds pour aller jusqu'à la cuisine et me faire un merveilleux et puissant double café. J'en avais besoin, vraiment. Après quelques minutes, je m'installais confortablement dans le canapé, sentant alors quelque chose qui me piquait le dos. Tiens, les talons de la nouvelle conquête de mon frère. Des Jimmy Choo en plus, la bitch. Sans culpabilité, je cachais alors les chaussures sous le canapé avec empressement. La bitch Jimmy Choo, sortait de la chambre de mon frère et sursauta alors en me voyant, tranquillement installée dans le canapé. Visiblement, David n'avait pas prévenu qu'il avait une sœur, une sœur qui vit avec lui. Je ne pris pas la peine de lui dire qui j'étais - de toute façon on allait jamais la revoir - et j'haussai les épaules lorsqu'elle me demanda si j'avais vu ses chaussures. Je lui fis alors un petite signe pour lui dire d'aller voir ailleurs si ses chaussures y étaient, et elle quitta l'appartement, brisant le silence par un claquement de porte. Vraiment, nous sommes très désagréables nous les Jones.
J'entendis alors David sortir de sa chambre, complètement pénard. " Tiens, toujours en vie ? Je commençais à me demander si tu n'étais pas attaché à ton lit. " Je souris alors, buvant une gorgée de mon café. " Bah quoi ? Après tout, je ne connais pas les pratiques sexuelles de tes copines ! " Je le laissais choir sur le canapé, mettant alors mes pieds sur ses jambes. " Tu l'as trouvé où celle là ? Sa coloration était vraiment mauvaise mais ses chaussures..." disais-je en même temps que je les sortais de dessous le canapé " un vrai délice. J'ai hâte de les porter ! " Il fallait bien que je trouve un bénéfice aux filles qui passaient du temps chez moi et vous savez...j'adore les chaussures ! Ne me regardez pas comme ça ! Elles ne payent pas le loyer si ? Non, alors il faut bien qu'elle me donne autre chose.
" Café ?! " lui demandai-je en lui tendant mon mug à moitié plein. Je fermais les yeux alors profitant du silence qui faisait énormément de bien à mon mal de crâne. Évidemment, ce moment ne dura pas, puisque je parle tout le temps. Vraiment. Je m'auto saoule par moment. " Tu sais...avec toutes les filles que tu t'envoies, tu vas bientôt avoir fait le tour de la population féminine de San Francisco. Tu vas devoir recommencer du début ! Hahaha ! Tu pourrais même faire un classement, des meilleurs coups de San Francisco ! "

Je me demandais parfois – certaines nuits où je me sentais vraiment seul, ces nuits ou je finissais au bar enchaînant les whisky avant de trouver une jeune femme à ramener chez moi pour oublier ma solitude quelques heures – quel sens avait réellement ma vie. Bien souvent, l’alcool me faisait oublier mes interrogations au bout d’un moment, mais la grande question était toujours là : que faisais-je de ma vie ? Ou plutôt, qu’en avais-je fait ? Quand ma tête bouillait trop, je buvais à m’en faire mal pour faire taire les questions. Comme hier soir, en fait. J’étais sorti aux alentours de vingt-trois heures, ma journée de cours m’avait épuisé, mais je ne me sentais pas de passer la nuit seul. J’avais besoin de faire des rencontres. Une rencontre. Je suis allé traîner dans un bar plutôt « in » du moment avec Vick’, mon amour de sœur toujours partante pour faire la fête. Je me suis installé au comptoir et me suis adonné à mon passe temps favori dans ces moments d’incertitude et de désorientation : observer les autres, mon ami Jack Daniels m’aidant dans ma réflexion – j’avais perdu la jolie tête blonde de ma sœur de vue quand elle a commencé à s’amuser réellement. J’étais toujours heureux de sortir avec elle, mais également qu’elle n’ait pas besoin de moi, sa loque de frère pour profiter de ses soirées, car je me considérai plus comme un frein à ses nouvelles rencontres qu’autre chose, compte tenu de mon éternelle apparence de paumé-dépravé-dépressif. Intéressant mélange, n’est-ce-pas ? Je pensais à tout cela, jusqu’à ce qu’une jolie brunette s’installe sur le tabouret à côté du mien. Je faisais toujours mine de ne pas les voir, ces filles qui tentaient une première approche avec moi. Elle avait d’ailleurs attendu un moment avant de demander au serveur de lui servir la même chose que moi – verre qu’elle avait descendu d’un trait, tout en en demandant un autre. Là-dessus, elle s’était tournée vers moi et avait choisi d’engager la conversation. C’était toujours comme ça que ça commençait. Je ne savais pas pourquoi – bien que je me sois très souvent interrogé à ce sujet – ces filles s’intéressaient à moi. Ou plutôt aux types seuls dans les bars en général, avec leur air triste et paumé, leur verre presque vide et leurs conversations très réduites. Parce que oui, je ne leur parlais pas bien longtemps, avant qu’elles ne montent chez moi, juste assez pour qu’elles tombent sous le « charme », quoi. Voilà comment j’avais rencontré ma conquête de ce soir – ainsi que toutes les autres, d’ailleurs, et la liste était vraiment longue. Dix heures. La nuit avait été vraiment courte. Je ne sais pas à quelle heure nous étions rentrés, mais je sais que nous n’avions même pas atteint ma chambre avant le feu d’artifices – si vous voyez ce que je veux dire – puisque chaussures et vêtements jonchaient le sol du salon. J’étais quasiment certain que Vicki dormait déjà à poings fermés, étant donné que j’avais aperçu son amie Layla la soutenir tant bien que mal et la trainer hors de la soirée où nous nous trouvions – elle l’avait donc probablement comme d’habitude ramenée à l’appart’, ma sœur étant trop mal en point pour le retrouver seule. Dans ces cas là, les lendemains de soirée, je me sentais un peu coupable de ne pas être celui qui prenait soin de Vick’ quand elle était trop alcoolisée pour être responsable, et d’être plutôt le frère en manque trainant dans un bar en espérant trouver une conquête pour la nuit.. Ouvrant les yeux, remarquant que j’étais déjà seul dans mon lit, je priais pour que la jeune femme d’hier ait déjà décampé, car il n’était pas dans mes habitudes de les revoir une fois le jour levé. Je haussais un sourcil – je ne pouvais pas ouvrir les yeux, à travers mes paupières je devinais aisément que la lumière dans l’appartement était très forte. Je me décidai à me lever, passai un pantalon de jogging et comme à mon habitude, je sortis de ma chambre pour aller m’affaler sur le canapé. Comme je l’avais supposé, plus de conquête, seulement ma sœur – avec manifestement une gueule de bois épique – et une tasse de café dans sa main que je convoitais.
« Tu sais que tu parles trop dès le matin, toi ? » lançai-je de ma voix d’outre tombe à ma sœur alors qu’elle m’assommait de railleries sur les pratiques sexuelles de mes amies ou je ne savais quoi. Une fois installé dans le fond du canapé, il ne lui avait pas fallu plus d’une demi-seconde pour prendre ses aises et caler ses longues jambes en travers des miennes. « Rencontrée au bar d’hier, elle est venue engager la conversation.. Et tu sais combien il m’en faut peu dans ces cas là pour couper court à la discussion et passer à.. autre chose ! » lui dis-je en me faisant rire moi-même de ma remarque, tandis qu’elle m’avouait qu’elle avait subtilisé les escarpins de cette pauvre demoiselle en me les montrant. Jolies, en effet, et je pensai immédiatement qu’elles lui iraient à la perfection.
Vicki m’avait adorablement proposé son café – j’étais pourtant persuadé de ne pas avoir trop lorgné dessus, mais passons – et le regard que je lui adressai exprimait largement la gratitude que j’éprouvai à son égard. Après avoir bu une longue gorgée du liquide brûlant, je posai ma main sur ses genoux, et me penchai pour lui embrasser le front.
Sa remarque suivante me tira un éclat de rire sincère. Elle n’avait pas totalement tord : je n’avais pas dressé de liste évidemment, mais les filles qui avaient défilé dans notre appartement étaient vraiment nombreuses. « Recommencer ? Non je pensais plutôt commencer à chercher dans les villes voisines, j’aime la nouveauté.. » Lui dis-je avec malice. Je ne m’étendis pas plus sur le sujet, et je commençai déjà à penser à la suite de la journée. On était samedi, et je n’avais qu’une seule envie : faire quelque chose – ou ne rien faire – avec ma sœur. Elle était la seule que j’avais envie de voir, car malgré mon apparence tranquille, ma tête était torturée. Chaque nuit que je passai avec une énième fille différente me rappelai comment j’avais brisé mon couple, il y a un an, et bien que j’affirmai le contraire, il était évident que je ne m’étais pas remis de tout cela, et que je ne parvenais pas à oublier Zawe. « On fait quoi, aujourd’hui ? » demandais-je en haussant un sourcil.

D'accord. Peut être qu'il n'avait pas tout à fait tort. En même temps...ça n'est pas de ma faute ! Ma mère a toujours parlé plus que de raison, et je vous passe les détails sur ma grand mère. Comment voulez vous que je m'en sorte dans une famille comme ça ?! Et puis vous savez, j'ai grandi avec David, aka pseudo séducteur avec des phrases à deux balles. ( Je vous passerai l'époque où il a tenté les étoiles dans les yeux, avec le père voleur, le ciel et toutes ces conneries !) Enfin voila ! Je pense que c'est vraiment un gêne familial et surtout HÉRÉDITAIRE. Je suis obligée de parler. De toute façon, il s'en plaint toujours mais sans moi l'animation aux repas familiaux ne seraient absolument pas aussi bien ( comment ça je m'aime ? ). Et puis soyons honnêtes : tout ce que je dis est à propos et complètement sensé, constructif. Jamais ô grand jamais je ne critique quelqu'un (ton nez s'allonge...), je ne me moque ( fort...) ou je colporte des ragôts complètement faux en rajoutant des détails bien croustillants (vraiment très fort ma fille...). Bah quoi ?! Vous me connaissez non, je suis la pureté incarnée. " Hahaha, très drôle. T'as bouffé le mari de Katy Perry pour avoir un humour aussi pourri ? " lui répondis-je avec un grand sourire moqueur, me préparant à recevoir un coup de coussin dans la gueule. Faut bien se méfier des grands frères : toutes les filles savent ça. Ou en tout cas, les sœurs qui s'entendent avec leurs frères et qui les connaissent assez bien pour connaitre leurs réactions. En même temps, vu l'esprit à moitié dans le coma de David au réveil, je me sentais à peu près en sécurité pour le moment. ( Faites toujours attention aux représailles qui se font attendre ! Hahaha. )
Je profitais du résumé de la rencontre de mon frère et de son ex amante pour prêter attention à mes toutes nouvelles chaussures. En fait je faisais toujours ça. Dès que mon frère me faisait un petit résumé de la soirée qu'il avait passé, je prêtais mon attention ailleurs, ne faisant mine que de l'écouter que d'une oreille. Je n'avais pas envie de savoir qu'il s'était tapé une autre fille, qu'il a pris son pied. Parce que je sais qu'il ment. A tout le monde. A lui même. Il a besoin d'une simple fille, SA copine, ou plutôt son ex. David est le plus malheureux des hommes, il n'est pas capable de le dire à voix haute, et moi non plus. Vous savez, je m'inquiète pour lui. Peut être qu'à force, il trouvera la bonne. " Hors de question de changer de ville mon frère ! C'est la meilleure du monde ! La capitale ! Quand je serais impératrice du monde, je construirais mon château ici ! " J'ébouriffai alors les cheveux de mon frère en rigolant, cherchant un peu de courage pour me lever de ce si confortable canapé. " Pour commencer mon frère préféré, je vais aller me laver, me maquiller et faire mes cheveux. Je peux pas sortir comme ça ! Et vu que ça va me prendre à peu près huit heures, tu vas avoir le temps de réfléchir à ce qu'on pourra faire ! "
Je me levai alors, l'abandonnant dépité sur le canapé du salon (en lui piquant une dernière goutte de mon café au passage) et m'avançai jusqu'à la douche. Ce qu'il y a de terriblement sincère chez moi, c'est que je suis totalement et terriblement spontanée. Alors, ça peut très bien être bon comme mauvais. Oui, vous avez compris. J'ai préparé un plan machiavélique en à peine dix secondes et demi. Qui a dit que les blondes étaient totalement stupides et donc ralenties cérébralement ? " DAVIIIIIIIIIIIIIID ! DAVID SULLIVAN JONES ! VIENS TOUT DE SUITE ! " Pas de réactions. D'accord. Très bien. La comédie dans...1, 2, 3. " David ! Je rigole pas ! Il y a une énorme araignée dans la baignoire ! Elle va m'attaquer ! J'te jure ! Tu sais que j'en ai horriblement peur ! Allez ! S'il te plait ! "Je savais qu'il viendrait. Tout simplement, parce que les grands frères se déplacent toujours pour leurs petites sœurs. Penchée vers la baignoire, je cachais ma 'surprise' à l'aide de mes cheveux. " Te voila...En fait, il n'y a pas d'araignée. "lui dis-je alors, lui faisant face, la pomme de douche dans la main, lançant l'eau à pleine gorgée. Qui a dit qu'une douche se prenait nu dans une baignoire ? HAHAHA. C'est qu'il devient complètement trempé ce merveilleux David ! Je sais, je ne vais pas l'emporter au paradis...alors laissez moi en profiter !
